What does it mean to be a digital citizen? How would you rank your current digital citizenship and why?
1. A digital citizen is a member of the technologically connected community known as the internets. They are contributors and receivers (not always positive though) who make up a piece of the puzzle. They are knowledgeable of the whole community (as much as possible) and are responsible with the privelages they have as a digital citizen. ---Francesca
2. I believe I am a somewhat contributing citizen who tries to stay up to speed with the new innovations created everyday. I do not abuse my privelage by creating negative content or participating in negative content. I enjoy being a digital citizen for the educational perks and that's pretty much where it stops. I consume more than I contribute overall, but that's mostly do to my lack of advanced skills when it comes to technology. I'd give myself a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. ---Francesca
A digital citizen is someone who is actively involved in participating with the productive collaboration of ideas and contributes their ideas while elaborating off of others'. Someone who, instead of using technology to degrade others, uses it to benefit creativity, peace, and communication. I'm not sure there is a way to grade my current digital citizenship. I don't know the levels of citizenship of the world and I think that these levels would vary from using the internet extremely productively to not using it or using it for foul purposes, but I believe that because I regularly use the internet and stay up to date with other's new information, and I contribute my thoughts in a way that they can help others that I am an active digital citizen, and while I do need to improve on my productive use of the internet, I am already using the internet in a manner that can benefit others. --Andrew Meyer
Being a digital citizen is about having an open mind, wanting to collaborate, learn about other people from all over the world, understanding and breaking free from stereotypes or generalizations we are feed through our society, willing to listen (and read) how others live, learn from that, and then contribute back. We have to know that we are not the only ones out there. We are not the only ones that matter. And if we want our ideas heard then we have to be willing to listen to others as well. I would say that i am just getting started in my global citizenship. I have the mindset but i have not done all i can just yet. But i will! I am becoming more familiar with everyway i can contribute and ways around the american way of viewing the world. But I will continue to grow and learn and expereince new ways of living and collaborating and being apart of our Global society -Alix
Digital Citizen: I think a digital citizen is someone who is mature enough to go on the internets without screwing around arguing with people on Youtube. Plus, they are able to get a lot of cool information by just getting on the internet. I'm able to get a great ammount of info by reading articles and finding out how the weather will be like the next day. I think that I am a great digital citizen. (9/10) * Ben CArrington
I digital citizen is a someone who understands the internet and how to use it effectively. A digital citizen also contributes to the web in a variety of ways, such as commenting on other people's pages, using social networking sites, and starting their own websites. A digital citizen might also create a program and distribute it as freeware so that others may benefit from its creation. I think that I am working effectively to becoming a digital citizen by using social networking sites, and by downloading freeware. - Catherine McCurdy
I think it means to understand how technology is going to effect us in the future and be open for new ideas. You have to be willing to dicuss modern issues and see the good and bad parts. You should undestand how to use the internet effectly and be willing to learn new things because the development will never stop. I think i'm on a good way to become a digital citizen because i think it's interesting to be part of that new movement. Jakob KohlbrennerA digital citizen is someone who surfs the internet but not just for their own personal use? They use it to help other people in education, and learn about the world. I have blogs, but I don't really correct people's comments on websites I visit. I contribute to the internet by learning about certain topics and commenting on how I feel about those topics. I guess I could be a better digital citizen. Denise Almaraz

A global citizen is someone who takes part in the information uploading and global sharing, on top of just using the internet for his personal use as a consumer.A global citizen does not has to be a professional user of the internet, even an amateur who shares his information and joins many-to-many conversations can be considered as a 10/10 of digital citizenship.JulienBeing a digital citizen requires you to try and help regulate things online. Like flagging bad comments on a Youtube page or reporting explicit content on a web page. My global citizenship would probably be a 5 out of 10. -Brittany-
The internet pretty much regulates itself. A few active moral internet users can keep a lot of bad internet users in check, and no government is really effective in managing the interwebz. How are we doing now as global digital citizens? Are we participating as much as we could be? We talk a lot about being knowledgeable about technology and the world at large but we aren't as far down that path as we could be. 7/10 - Zane T. Rushing

In a sense, I think being a global citzen implies at least some knowledge of the internet communities of today. People meet people via the internet so much now that these are vital tools.
